PUBLIC NOTICE 
City of Ocala Launches COVID-19 Disaster Assistance Program ADMINISTERED BY THE OCALA HOUSING AUTHORITY to Assist City of Ocala Residents with Rent/Mortgage and Utility Assistance

City Residents:
The City of Ocala has received funding to assist extremely-low, very-low and low- to moderate-income residents who have experienced or are experiencing financial disruption and loss due to the COVID-19 crisis. Eligible residents will be assisted with temporary rent/mortgage and utility payments for up to three months, not to exceed $4,680 per eligible household.

Funding Source:
The grant is funded with $200,000 from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program and is being administered by the Ocala Housing Authority.

Program Eligibility
Eligibility will be determined based on proof of income and lost wages as a result of the pandemic. Individual households may receive up to $4,680 paid directly toward housing and utility costs. Applicant must complete a Prescreening Application.  Once approved, the following documentation* will be required:
*Letter stating why rent, mortgage and/or utility payment is past due (March 1, 2020 and onward).
*Proof of income before COVID-19 pandemic (such as pay stubs or child support).
*Proof of income after COVID-19 pandemic (such as pay stubs or child support).
*Proof of loss of income (employer’s termination letter and/or reduction of work hours letter).
*Copy of photo ID card for applicant and co-applicant (driver’s license or ID cards for all household members over 18 years of age).
*Copy of current written rental lease agreement or mortgage statement (executed prior to March 1, 2020).
*Copy of utility statement showing payment due for March 1, 2020 and onward.

Criteria:
First come, first qualified with priority given to special needs households.
Eligible tenants or homeowners must live in the City limits of Ocala (contact Marion County Community Services @ 352-671-8770 if you live outside of the city limits).

Demographic information of applicant head of household will be collected, but not used for evaluation, and shall include: (1) race/ethnicity; (2) gender; (3) primary and secondary language; (4) disability status and (5) veteran status. 

Application Period: 
The Application Period begins on August 10, 2020 and ends October 31, 2020 or until all funds have been exhausted for this program strategy.  At the Ocala Housing Authority’s discretion, a waiting list may be established when there are eligible applicants for strategies that no longer have funding available. Those households on the waiting list will be notified of their status. Applicants will be maintained in an order that is consistent with the time applications were submitted.

Applications will be available starting August 10, 2020. They may be obtained from the Ocala Housing Authority at 1629 NW 4th Street Ocala, FL 34475 or HERE on our website.  All applications will be considered on a First come, first qualified with priority given to special needs households and must be submitted online or at the Ocala Housing Authority 1629 NW 4th Street Ocala, FL 34475 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
