Board of Commissioners

“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality”.

Members of the OHA Board of Commissioners are “outside of the box’ thinkers, leading the way for the OHA staff to make the dreams of many Marion County residents a reality. The Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Ocala, and confirmed by the City Council. They serve 4-year staggered terms, and meet the 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:30pm at the OHA administrative office.

OHA’s Board Chairperson

Elnora Mitchell is a lifelong resident of Marion County. She is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Ocala Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Ms. Mitchell has over twenty years of public service experience in fair housing, equal opportunity and human resource management. Ms. Mitchell has used her experience to encourage the Ocala Housing Authority Board of Commissioners to consider alternative means of securing operating funds. She works hard to assure the Board of Commissioners is aware of the needs of this community and current economic struggles. Our goal is to provide quality, safe housing and to provide our families with the resources they need to become self-sufficient remains on top of the OHA to do list. The OHA continues to be challenged to provide affordable housing in a housing market that has limited provisions for affordable housing. The board is taking all necessary steps to ensure our ability to continue delivering services to this community. Ms. Mitchell joined the board in July of 2000.
